Marco Van Schie DVM

Marco van Schie was studying veterinairy medicine in Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He started working in a mixed practice working with cows, sheep, small animals and some horses. In 2003 Marco van Schie started working in an equine referal clinic. His main job were the emergency calls during the evenings / nights and the ambulatory pratice during the days. The ambulatory pratice is were the interest in equine dentisty begins. At that time the standing oral extractions developed instead of the extractions under general anesthesia, so I had to develop my skills for standing extractions.

In 2009 Marco van Schie went to the Academy of Equine Dentistry in Idaho, because I had a lot of refered advanced cases from certified dentists from the Academy. It was a game changer to go to the Academy of Equine Dentistry, and to be certified. At this time Marco van Schie go back on a regulare base, to meet "dentistry" friends and to share our knowledge and experiences. Since 2020 I'm working at the Sporthorse Medical Diagnostic Centre, orthopedic veterinairy clinic for horses. The dental department exists of 3 dentists doing referal dental cases and ambulatory dental work. To share my dental experience and knowledge I have presentations and workshops in the Netherlands, USA, France, Germany and Czech Republic.

The Sporthorse Medical Diagnostic Centre was at origine an orthopdic clinic for horses. Nowadays we are working in a multidisciplinary team with : - orthopedic department - dental department - imagine department - non-orthopedic poor performance department - farier department - physiotherapists
