Horse Dentistry Continuing Education For Veterinarians
Hands On Equine Dentistry
Moore Equine has a unique approach to practicing equine dentistry that comes from having integrated years of clinical and teaching experience around the world. By constantly working with some of the most progressive and open-minded veterinarians and technicians, we have assimilated unique insights from some of the world’s most experienced practitioners. The modules we offer are clinically based and designed to provide veterinarians with state-of-the-art knowledge and skills. We always work on live horses in small groups as we believe this is one of the only ways that clinicians can improve their techniques. Our instructors are internationally renowned and respected with many years of experience in high-volume practices. We don’t just explicate concepts, we demonstrate everything we teach directly in front of you, on live clinical cases.

Equine dentistry has undergone incredible changes in the last 20 years. The art and science of dentistry are continually advancing and it can be difficult for practicing veterinarians to keep up. Our courses are unique as they are a combination of up to date scientific lectures and wetlabs working on live horses. Dentistry cannot be learned in a lecture hall or working on cadavers – it is our philosophy that it takes working on live horses in a closely supervised setting to achieve hiqh quality results.

We offer several training modules that cover the different disciplines within dentistry. Each course builds on the next and certain topics such as diagnostic imaging are steadily incorporated throughout the series. If you are a busy practitioner looking to add new skills and knowledge, these training modules are guaranteed to change the way you practice equine dentistry.

We strongly believe that learning precise occlusal equilibration techniques is critical to successfully performing advanced procedures. As such, we require participants complete our equilibration series before attending the advanced courses.

Occlusal Equilibration & Diagnostics - Module 1
This module sets the foundation for all the rest of the courses and can also be taken as a stand alone that will forever change the way you perform equine dentistry. Topics cover oral biomechanics, core concepts of occlusal equilibration, in depth hypsodont anatomy and pathology, advanced principles of oral examination, juvenile versus geriatric dentistry, dental radiology, review of dental nerve blocks, and several other topics. The course consists of lectures all morning followed by wet lab on live horses in the afternoon. The groups are very small and participants work on horses in groups of two.

Occlusal Equilibration & Diagnostics - Module 2
During Module 2, students will learn to further refine their occlusal work by spending most of the 3 days working on live horses. There will be some lectures on common mistakes of equilibration, advanced anatomical parameters of equilibration, techniques for improving simultaneous occlusion, and using equilibration to prepare the oral cavity for difficult extractions.
